In order to be motivated, you must first know what your “currency” is. Why do you do what you do? Most people assume that money motivates everyone, but that simply isn’t true. So what motivates YOU? Is it…Money? Recognition? Gifts? Time Away? Acts of Service? Appreciation? Something else? I was talking to a teacher friend the other day, who was frustrated that her son who recently graduated from college would be making almost as much as her at his new career as an engineer. I asked her, “Why did you decide to become a teacher?” Sadly, she couldn’t answer.  Unfortunately, society tells us over and over that money is what gives us value and this value equal’s happiness. Too many people start to fall into this trap, the trap of forgetting your WHY. Why did you go into the career that you are in? Was it about making a difference in someone’s life? Was it because the hours worked well with your family life? Was it because you liked figuring out problems or building things? So what motives you? What is your currency?  It doesn’t matter what the world tells you, it only matter what your heart tells you!
