Do you ever wonder if you are on track with your life or should I dare say, living your purpose? Your purpose doesn’t have to be your career. Remember Bono (the lead singer of U2), he makes millions of dollars, but he shares that music is NOT his purpose.  His true calling is to help the people of Africa. His singing has given him the money to fight AIDS and extreme poverty and to make a real difference in the world. Some may ask, how do I know what my purpose is?  First of all, let me clarify a few things about our purpose.  I believe, as we go through life our purpose may start as something, but morph into something else over time.  I remember once talking to a proud father who announced to a group that his 20-year-old daughter had found her life purpose as a teacher.  Now, I am not saying that it’s not an accurate statement, BUT what if teaching is just the beginning of her purpose? What if her real purpose is something that she can’t even fathom yet? I guess what I am saying is that when we declare, this is my life purpose, we still need to keep an open mind. We don’t want to close down a possibility down the road that could be something even bigger than we can imagine. So if you are struggling with your purpose ask yourself these question: What would I love to do with 60 minutes of uninterrupted time? What makes me come alive? What do I love to do that doesn’t feel like work? What makes me feel in sync with my life? What do I dream of doing but never follow through, because of doubt and fear? What would others say my unique gifts are? When you reflect on these questions you can begin to understand a starting point for your life purpose. I wish it could be easier, but our life purpose is not something you can purchase or unwrap, but it is more like a treasure hunt throughout your life… doesn’t that sound like more fun? Are you ready to get started on your life purpose treasure hunt? Start the process by asking yourself these questions. Really stop and listen to your answers and trust and follow through.
